Additional Timeless Information

Goldie is jungle's most recognizable face. More than any other artist he is synonymous with drum 'n' bass. Aside from owning Metalheadz, a label at the forefront of the genre's development, he has attained public notoriety by producing Timeless, one of the most important LPs of jungle's first five years. Tracks like the moving, urban, epic tale of "Inner City Life"--a tale told in three movements--are among the tunes that define what jungle is. Others, like "Saint Angel," in which Goldie collaborates with fellow production wizards 4 hero, throb with virtually subliminal bass and electronic snarls. Other subdued and equally inspired items, including "State of Mind," combine live upright bass and drum instrumentation with the soulful wails of guest vocalist Lorna Harris. Timeless is exactly as the title implies--a classic. --Daniel Shumate

What Customers Say About Timeless:

I can't give it five stars as it's a bit short but still, it's a must-own for any Goldie fans.

This album is highly overrated in my opinion but I'm not a big fan of the genre. I would much rather listen to LTJ Bukim or something if I have to listen to this type of music. Very boring and repetitive. Some parts of the music are good like in Sea of Tears and many of the other songs but then there are long boring intros and other boring parts with cheesy singing thrown in here and there.

I can't even begin to explain how good this album is. Jah the Seventh Seal. My god. Smoke a bowl or two, then play this CD, and your life will be forever changed. You can listen to it so many times and it only gets better. Inner City Life. Kemistry. Sea of Tears.

This is anti-soul for those who know the difference and care; at least it makes my soul cringe. album while considering myself a jazzhead. Since when did shmooz become high art. First off, I was fully prepared to appreciate this album being relatively new to D&B (longtime Amon Tobin fan, currently diggin' photek/teebee) and having respect for the rave reviews here. Thanks for letting me share. I am hoping this is a highly specialized album for a niche group of musically impaired D&B listeners, not the ultimate representation of its genre as its touted. I guess I was caught really off guard by the super cheesy house-esque vocals and cheap synth instrumentation. I would be embarrassed to have this in my collection in the same way I would be embarrassed to have a Kenny G.

While it's not released here I will never know, but no worries. Kemistry is a dedication to the Dj of the same name, and Sea Of Tears, you have to hear that one. Rooted in that signature jungle sound, he adds singing, atmosphere, sound effects, hard hitting beats (with plenty of accents), it's just so hard to describe. Every sound is placed in a great place, from basslines, hits, vocals, and all of the other stuff.

Saint Angel and Angel, two tracks that share a similar style, are split images of each other. Well since I'm not in the mode where you just feel like you can't review for _____, I'll review this album as well. If you are a fan of electronic music, this album is a must listen. Also, I was a fool not to get the two cd version. These rhythms on here grow on you a lot.Another album that would be perfect for listening to in the downtown area at night, Timeless is urban cool and emotionally enganging. If you can't pinpoint my emotion, than ______ you then. If you don't like that, ______ you.

It did grow on me, like crack. Besides, it only took me about 20 seconds or so to write my _________ review for Tago Mago.Forget the label of "best drum and bass album ever", this album doesn't even come close to resembling pure jungle music. State Of Mind features a real drummer and keyboards, with great vocals that give Tracey Thorne (Massive Attack) a run for her money. One of the reasons is that 21 minute epic title track. There are only eight songs, but this album is very long. I can make up my own emotions that are personal for me, and for me only. Not a minute wasted in this nearly 80 minute album. If you came here thinking it's going to be the pinnacle of mindless drum and bass, it's not. If you can find it, snag that version instead.10/10

It's got the jungle elements, but Goldie mixes it up. The urban cool thing is always hard for me to describe, but this urban cool thing has always been able to bring up this emotion that sticks with you. Sensual and You and Me both have beats that are kicked back. Bigtime. This song provides a lot of different hooks, intros, segues, and a wildly varied bag of sound effects. At least for me. If you like big beats, you will find them here, and these rhythms can get very addicting. Therefore, it's not about the image (even though it sounds like an image thing, it's not), just this certain emotion that lives beneath a lot of people.
